Saheb biwi aur gangster returns
Now the second part comes with minor alterations. Saheb and biwi are still the same. Soha Ali Khan comes in as the new muse of the Saheb who seems to be interested in every other woman than the one he is married to. The gangster this time is the much acclaimed Irrfan Khan. But this time the movie had no elements of surprise. Everybody who had seen the first part knew that Jimmy Shergill was gonna throw a one liner every 15 minutes. Mahie Gill would still be drunk and bat shit crazy. The gangster was going to die in the end. Someone was gonna stab some in the back it was just a question of who and how. All this came from the experience of the first part and Dhulia didn’t seem to give the audience anything apart from this.
The story is still set in rural UP. The story had political connections and motivations that were very loosely explained in the movie. The movie’s main plot revolves around the three main characters as the title suggests but the side track which is supposed to add credibility to the story and strength to characters fails miserably and confuses the audience no end. Some scenes are just put in the movie to fill up time in what seems like an endless sequence of events. A word has to be said regarding editing. This movie is an editing disaster as connect between scenes and the logical flow of events seem highly disturbed. Some scenes are added as comic value but they seem so unimportant to the movie that they remain a tacky addition.
The music is avoidable and even though the movie has only a couple of songs they can easily be done away with. Sandeep Chowta didn’t seem to break sweat. All actors did justice to their roles: Irrfan Khan as the rowdy gangster who wants to avenge his ancestral debacle. Jimmy Shergill as the egotistical king. Mahie Gill as the depraved wife and Soha Ali Khan the betrayed lover. But the movie fails to entertain as a whole. There are several moments of great acting comedy and intense drama in the movie. It is still a cohesive failure for the audience.
So this isnt exactly the Dark Knight rises...it is just the Mummy returns!!
Nicely written sundar. After watching this movie, I can completly relate to it.
