Some movie to reckon…

I haven’t updated the blog even though I’ve been watching a few movies. Let me come from behind.

Midnight in Paris – Woody Allen does it again. He is fantastic at painting a picture so simple yet fascinatingly romantic. Midnight in Paris is about a guy who is touring Paris and finds a way to escape into the Paris of 1920s. There he meets his idols, Scot and Zelda Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso and the kinds. The movie has the typical smooth free flowing Woody Allen feel to it. The humor is subtle and Owen Wilson does a great job with that. The movie was different to say the least and very enjoyable.

The Ghostwriter – Roman Polanski brings out a political heady affair in the Ghost writer. Adam Lang, Pierce Brosnan, the prime minister of England wants an autobiography to be written and Ewan McGregor is chosen to write it. He gets entangled in a tale of spies and treachery. Various characters come in and go out of the movie everybody with shade of grey. Who is the kingpin? The movie culminates to that point. Set in a slow pace and mysterious circumstances.

Horrible bosses – Hilarious. That describes this movie to the T. 3 guys plotting to kill their bosses because of the horrible circumstances they are in. 3 rookies planning a murder with no idea how to approach it makes for a complete roller coaster ride. Everybody does a great job in the movie and the best character for me was Kevin Spacey. He was the most horrible and sadistic of the bosses. If you haven’t seen it, don’t wait no more.

50-50 – This movie is the best of the lot I have seen so far. This movie is a sensitive comedy and has received amazing appreciation. Joseph Gordon Levitt is detected of brain tumor. He is 27. His world suddenly changes when people around him start to taking him differently. Not bad differently but much worse, sympathetic differently. His mom who already has a husband with Alzheimer’s to take care of worries about him constantly. His girlfriend swears to take care of him and stays with him though her original plan before she learnt about the tumor was to dump him. His friend, Seth Rogen, is trying to cheer him up at every occasion. His therapist is a rookie and she isn’t of much help. It’s a movie of how he learns to cope with his ailment and starts to see what he actually means to all these people. A movie of realization with comedy and sensitivity blended like a finely made martini. Best serves with a clean handkerchief.

Happy Viewing
